{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2026,1,28]],"date-time":"2026-01-28T21:59:21Z","timestamp":1769637561642,"version":"3.49.0"},"reference-count":92,"publisher":"Wiley","issue":"29","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2014,8,19]],"date-time":"2014-08-19T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1408406400000},"content-version":"vor","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/termsAndConditions#vor"}],"content-domain":{"domain":["chemistry-europe.onlinelibrary.wiley.com"],"crossmark-restriction":true},"short-container-title":["Eur J Inorg Chem"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2014,10]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title><jats:p>The complexes [(\u03b7<jats:sup>5<\/jats:sup>\u2010C<jats:sub>5<\/jats:sub>H<jats:sub>4<\/jats:sub>\u2013CO\u2013R)Mo(CO)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>(\u03b7<jats:sup>3<\/jats:sup>\u2010C<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>H<jats:sub>5<\/jats:sub>)] [R = OH (<jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>), Phe\u2013OMe (<jats:bold>2<\/jats:bold>)] have been examined as guests for the cyclodextrin (CD) hosts \u03b2\u2010CD and heptakis(2,3,6\u2010tri\u2010<jats:italic>O<\/jats:italic>\u2010methyl)\u2010\u03b2\u2010CD (TRIMEB), and the resultant inclusion compounds have been characterised in the solid state by elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, powder X\u2010ray diffraction, <jats:sup>13<\/jats:sup>C{<jats:sup>1<\/jats:sup>H} cross\u2010polarisation (CP) magic angle spinning (MAS) NMR spectroscopy and FTIR spectroscopy. Single\u2010crystal X\u2010ray analysis of <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold> shows that the unit cell contains centrosymmetric supramolecular dimers comprising two dicarbonyl complexes linked through hydrogen\u2010bonding interactions involving the carboxylic acid groups. In screening tests for antiproliferative effects, the CD adducts containing <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold> displayed enhanced antitumour activity against mouse melanoma (when compared with nonincluded <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>), while showing minimal activity towards human adenocarcinoma and nontumour rat myoblast cell lines.
