{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,11,24]],"date-time":"2025-11-24T21:33:45Z","timestamp":1764020025199,"version":"build-2065373602"},"reference-count":75,"publisher":"Wiley","issue":"29","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2015,9,17]],"date-time":"2015-09-17T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1442448000000},"content-version":"vor","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/termsAndConditions#vor"}],"content-domain":{"domain":["chemistry-europe.onlinelibrary.wiley.com"],"crossmark-restriction":true},"short-container-title":["Eur J Inorg Chem"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2015,10]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title><jats:p>A series of europium Eu\u2010 and La\u2010doped complexes with two different crystal structures, namely, Eu<jats:italic><jats:sub>x<\/jats:sub><\/jats:italic>La<jats:sub>1\u2013<jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic><\/jats:sub>(phen)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>(NO<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>)<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub> [phen = 1,10\u2010phenanthroline, <jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic> = 1.0 (<jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>), 0.88 (<jats:bold>2<\/jats:bold>), 0.73 (<jats:bold>3<\/jats:bold>), and 0.52 (<jats:bold>4<\/jats:bold>)] and {[Eu<jats:italic><jats:sub>x<\/jats:sub><\/jats:italic>La<jats:sub>1\u2013<jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic><\/jats:sub>(phen)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>(H<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>O)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>(NO<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>](NO<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>)<jats:bold>\u00b7<\/jats:bold>2(phen)(H<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>O)} [<jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic> = 0.28 (<jats:bold>5<\/jats:bold>) and 0.0 (<jats:bold>6<\/jats:bold>)], were synthesized in aqueous solution by using different Eu\/La ratios.The complexes were characterized by single\u2010crystal and powder X\u2010ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, thermogravimetry, and scanning electron microscopy. Compounds <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>\u2013<jats:bold>4<\/jats:bold> and <jats:bold>5<\/jats:bold>, <jats:bold>6<\/jats:bold> were obtained for Eu\/La molar ratios higher than 5:5 and smaller than 3:7, respectively. The photoluminescence properties of these compounds depend on the crystal structure, which is determined by the Eu\/La reactant ratio. Complexes <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>\u2013<jats:bold>4<\/jats:bold> exhibit a quantum efficiency (<jats:italic>\u03b7<\/jats:italic> = 55\u2009%) and quantum yield (<jats:italic>q<\/jats:italic> = 31\u2009%) higher than <jats:bold>5<\/jats:bold> (<jats:italic>\u03b7<\/jats:italic> = 23\u2009% and <jats:italic>q<\/jats:italic> = 6\u2009%).
