The crystal structure of \u03b1\u2010mDT\u2010TTF is composed of molecular stacks aligned parallel to each other. Its cyclic voltammetry shows higher electron\u2010donor ability than the unsubstituted analogue. This material was employed as a semiconductor in an organic field\u2010effect transistor and showed a mobility of 4\u2009\u00d7\u200910<jats:sup>\u20134<\/jats:sup> cm<jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>\u2009V<jats:sup>\u20131<\/jats:sup>\u2009s<jats:sup>\u20131<\/jats:sup>. Two charge\u2010transfer salts of this donor with [M(mnt)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>]<jats:sup>\u2013<\/jats:sup> anions (mnt = maleonitriledithiolate), M = Co and Au, were obtained by electrocrystallization; they present unusual stoichiometries: (\u03b1\u2010mDT\u2010TTF)[Co(mnt)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>] and (\u03b1\u2010mDT\u2010TTF)<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>[Au(mnt)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>]<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>. In the cobalt compound, the donor molecules are fully oxidized and the Co complex is dimerized; it presents semiconducting behavior (7\u2009\u00d7\u200910<jats:sup>\u20133<\/jats:sup> S\u2009cm<jats:sup>\u20131<\/jats:sup>).
