Following the scope of previous works, amino\u2010acid\u2010based ionic liquids encapsulated (ENILs) into carbonaceous submicrocapsules are here proposed as a novel material for CO<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub> capture. The ENILs prepared using tetrabutylphosphonium acetate ([P<jats:sub>4,4,4,4<\/jats:sub>][Ac]), used as reference, (2\u2010hydroxyethyl)trimethylammonium <jats:sc>l<\/jats:sc>\u2010phenylalaninate ([N<jats:sub>1,1,1,2(OH)<\/jats:sub>][L\u2010Phe]), (2\u2010hydroxyethyl)trimethylammonium <jats:sc>l<\/jats:sc>\u2010prolinate ([N<jats:sub>1,1,1,2(OH)<\/jats:sub>][L\u2010Pro]), and tetrabutylammonium <jats:sc>l<\/jats:sc>\u2010prolinate ([N<jats:sub>4,4,4,4<\/jats:sub>][L\u2010Pro]) were characterized by SEM, TEM, elemental analysis, TGA, and BET to assess their morphology, chemical composition, porous structure, and thermal stability. The absorption of CO<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub> on these materials was studied up to 0.5 MPa and 343 K.
