The studies were focused on the anomeric position of <jats:sc>D<\/jats:sc>\u2010xylose and on the primary carbon positions of <jats:sc>D<\/jats:sc>\u2010glucose and sucrose. Microwave heating was used in both cases, and the results obtained show the usefulness of microwave irradiation for the development of cleaner technologies in carbohydrate chemistry.(\u00a9 Wiley\u2010VCH Verlag GmbH &amp; Co.
