The reaction was also performed with 2\u2010bromo\u20102\u2010nitropropanes to afford 2,2\u2010dialkyl\u20102\u2010nitroalkan\u20101\u2010ols. The use of chiral sugar\u2010derived aldehydes furnished the corresponding 2\u2010nitroalkan\u20101\u2010ols with excellent stereoselectivity.
