The microelectrode is based on an insulated needle\u2010shaped metallic wire with an exposed apex. The ion\u2010to\u2010electron transducer is made of poly(3\u2010octylthiophene\u20102,5\u2010diyl) and placed between an ion\u2010selective membrane and the metallic tip. The ion\u2010selective polyvinyl chloride\u2010based membrane is deposited atop the layer of conductive polymer.
