The oxidation of DZ is irreversible, pH\u2010dependent, and occurs in two steps, the first of 4\u2032\u2010OH on the B\u2010ring and the second on the 7\u2010OH on the A\u2010ring. The oxidation of 7\u2010OH\u20104\u2010CHM occurs on the 7\u2010OH on the A\u2010ring, is irreversible, pH\u2010dependent and proceeds in a single step. The DZ diffusion coefficient was calculated in pH\u20057.0 phosphate buffer to be <jats:italic>D<\/jats:italic><jats:sub>DZ<\/jats:sub>=8.1\u00d710<jats:sup>\u22125<\/jats:sup>\u2005cm<jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>\u2009s<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup>.
