In this work the experimental characterization and optimization of 3D cellulose fibre structures containing an inorganic filler is presented. The cellulose fibres were chosen from to different wood species, <jats:italic>Eucalyptus globulus <\/jats:italic>and <jats:italic>Picea abies<\/jats:italic>, to have different representative fibre dimensions, and the selected inorganic filler was precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). For the incorporation of precipitated calcium carbonate in the cellulosic fibre network four different types of polyacrylamide (Pam) were used as polymeric 3D retention agents. Pam B was identified as being the most effective with an incorporation of 15.3%, three times the incorporation obtained without Pam. The precipitated calcium carbonate retained in the 3D fibrous structure is determined by incineration.
