In free\u2010breathing FPP\u2010CMR, motion correction is usually performed in the image domain, requiring an initial reconstruction. This fact hinders its use in model\u2010based and deep learning reconstructions, which present remarkable performance in obtaining high\u2010quality images from highly accelerated acquisitions. We address this challenge by estimating and correcting respiratory motion in free\u2010breathing FPP\u2010CMR directly in\n                      <jats:italic>k<\/jats:italic>\n                      \u2010space.\n                    <\/jats:p>\n                  <\/jats:sec>\n                  <jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>Methods<\/jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>\n                      We propose K\u2010CC\u2010MoCo, an inter\u2010frame rigid motion correction approach formulated exclusively in\n                      <jats:italic>k<\/jats:italic>\n                      \u2010space that handles dynamic contrast through a specifically targeted design of the normalized cross\u2010correlation (CC) objective function to deal with the dynamic contrast. In addition, an ROI\u2010based coil\u2010compression approach was employed to focus the optimization on the heart region. The proposed method was compared to state\u2010of\u2010the\u2010art image\u2010based registration using a digital phantom and real free\u2010breathing acquisitions with different accelerations.\n                    <\/jats:p>\n                  <\/jats:sec>\n                  <jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>Results<\/jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>\n                      The proposed\n                      <jats:italic>k<\/jats:italic>\n                      \u2010space\u2010based method is approximately 2\u00d7 faster and can correct respiratory motion even at high acceleration factors (up to 50\u00d7), where the image\u2010based method fails due to severe undersampling artifacts. Notably, after K\u2010CC\u2010MoCo, the time\u2010averaged images are visibly less blurred. Quantitative metrics (SSIM, etc.) support this conclusion.\n                    <\/jats:p>\n                  <\/jats:sec>\n                  <jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>Conclusion<\/jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>\n                      K\u2010CC\u2010MoCo outperforms image\u2010based correction in free\u2010breathing FPP\u2010CMR acquisitions accelerated up to 50\u00d7. Respiratory motion is estimated and corrected in\n                      <jats:italic>k<\/jats:italic>\n                      \u2010space, enabling its use for model\u2010based and\/or deep learning
