Activated by either MAO or DMAC, the complexes <jats:bold>V1<\/jats:bold>\u2013<jats:bold>V3<\/jats:bold> efficiently catalyze the polymerization of ethylene into UHMWPE, that is, with an activity up to 3.37\u2009\u00d7\u200910<jats:sup>6<\/jats:sup>\u2009g\u2009mol<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup>\u00a0h<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup> (60\u00b0C) and the polyethylene obtained has a molecular weight around 3 million g mol<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup>, being the highest molecular weight achieved by a vanadium catalyst so far.
