We focus on three approaches: the mini\u2010superspace approximation, a motivated ansatz to go beyond the semi\u2010classical approximation and finally by using the FZZT branes as probes. In all the three methods we find that the tension of the (<jats:italic>m<\/jats:italic>, <jats:italic>n<\/jats:italic>) ZZ brane is <jats:italic>m<\/jats:italic> <jats:italic>n<\/jats:italic> times the tension of the (1,1) ZZ brane.
