To reduce agricultural dependence on synthetic pesticides, eco\u2010friendly alternatives must be developed. We have recently shown that aqueous extracts from dried leaves of young\n                      <jats:italic>Eucalyptus globulus<\/jats:italic>\n                      Labill. had promising\n                      <jats:italic>in vitro<\/jats:italic>\n                      antibacterial activity against phytopathogens. However, its\n                      <jats:italic>in vivo<\/jats:italic>\n                      effectiveness remains unclear. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the extract against tomato seeds and plants infected with\n                      <jats:italic>Xanthomonas euvesicatoria<\/jats:italic>\n                      (Jones\n                      <jats:italic>et al.<\/jats:italic>\n                      ) Constantin\n                      <jats:italic>et al.<\/jats:italic>\n                      (\n                      <jats:italic>Xeu<\/jats:italic>\n                      ), as well as to assess the plant's physiological responses upon biopesticide application. For this,\n                      <jats:italic>Solanum lycopersicum<\/jats:italic>\n                      L. cv. Roma seeds were inoculated with a\n                      <jats:italic>Xeu<\/jats:italic>\n                      suspension, incubated with the extract (0, 15, and 30\u2009g\u2009L\n                      <jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup>\n                      ), and left for germination for 10\u2009days.\n                    <\/jats:p>\n                  <\/jats:sec>\n                  <jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>RESULTS<\/jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>\n                      The treatment of inoculated seeds with the extract increased radicle length and reduced the incidence of symptomatic cotyledons. Parallely, 1\u2010month\u2010old tomato plants were foliar\u2010infected with a\n                      <jats:italic>Xeu<\/jats:italic>\n                      suspension and treated with various concentrations of the extract. Disease symptoms were monitored weekly over 3\u2009weeks, showing a dose\u2010dependent decrease following extract application. After 21\u2009days, the extract at both concentrations equally reduced the leaf bacterial population compared to infected plants. The application of the extract at 15\u2009g\u2009L\n                      <jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup>\n                      to infected plants improved their physiological status by enhancing antioxidant enzyme activity and photosynthetic performance.\n                    <\/jats:p>\n                  <\/jats:sec>\n                  <jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>CONCLUSION<\/jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>\n                      Overall, these findings suggest that the extract can be used as an effective tool against\n
