Due to the nonexistence of typical H\u2010bonds in the chemical structure of this compound, deuteration does not produce the important isotopic effects observed in other beta\u00edne compounds. The results show however that deuteration can induce local lattice strains, which, at some transition points, may give rise to structural branching processes similar to those observed in normal BCCD under hydrostatic pressure.
