Status Solidi (c)"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2009,4]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title><jats:p>Spin resonance of electron states in a Ge\/Si heterosystem with Ge quantum dots has been investigated. Electron localization in the strain\u2010induced potential wells in Si in the vicinity of the Ge dots is confirmed by an analysis of the obtained g\u2010tensor values. A well pronounced anisotropy of the linewidth is explained in terms of an effective magnetic field lying in the plane of the quantum dot array. This magnetic field arises during the tunnelling of electrons between quantum dots and leads to an acceleration of the spin relaxation. The origin of the field is the structure\u2010induced asymmetry of electron potential wells. Two ways of increasing the spin lifetime are suggested: 1) creation of a higher\u2010symmetry confinement potential for electrons; 2) growth of a well\u2010separated quantum dot array (\u00a9 2009 WILEY\u2010VCH Verlag GmbH &amp; Co.
