This work presents the synthesis and characterization of a pyrene\u2010based azacationic ladder polymer (polymer A). Spectroscopic analysis points to the generation of radical cationic units during photoreduction, while cationic species are retained in the polymer backbone, thereby enabling in\u2009situ n\u2010type doping. Unconventional anti\u2010Kasha emission, with a maximum at 490\u2009nm, appears to originate from these radical species in solution. In toluene, the lower dipole moment of the solvent leads to dual emission: anti\u2010Kasha emission from radical cations and an S\n                    <jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub>\n                    \u2009\u2192\u2009S\n                    <jats:sub>0<\/jats:sub>\n                    transition from polycationic units at 780\u2009nm. This interpretation is supported by density functional theory\/time\u2010dependent density\u2010functional theory calculations, which indicates that the large energy gap between the D\n                    <jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>\n                    and D\n                    <jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>\n                    states of the radical cationic units may inhibit internal conversion, allowing anti\u2010Kasha behavior. Despite their potential reactivity, the cationic and radical cationic species remain stable in solution in the dark for over 110\u2009h.
