However, attaining superlubricity in aqueous\u2010lubricated systems with enhanced load\u2010bearing capacity remains challenging in metallic materials. Herein, nitrogen\u2010doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs) as a nano\u2010additive in aqueous glycerol facilitate macroscale superlubricity between friction pairs of steel and silicon\u2010doped hydrogenated amorphous carbon (a\u2010C:H:Si). Superlubricity is observed in boundary\u2010lubrication regime with a friction coefficient of 0.0055\u20130.0097 under various sliding conditions. Notably, the wear of the steel counterface (k\u2009=\u20098.51\u2009\u00d7\u200910<jats:sup>\u22129<\/jats:sup> mm<jats:sup>3<\/jats:sup>\/Nm) decreased by 47.8%, resulting in a final contact pressure of 206.7 MPa, which exceeds values reported for aqueous\u2010lubricated systems during superlubricity. The lubrication mechanism reveals that NGQDs' adsorption on the steel\u2010worn surface, coupled with the tribocatalytic generation of FeN<jats:sub><jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic><\/jats:sub>C<jats:sub><jats:italic>y<\/jats:italic><\/jats:sub> moieties on a\u2010C:H:Si surface, is crucial for reducing friction. These FeN<jats:sub><jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic><\/jats:sub>C<jats:sub><jats:italic>y<\/jats:italic><\/jats:sub> moieties, with a multitude of active sites, facilitate the subsequent anionic adsorption of pyrrolic\u2010rich NGQDs. Simultaneously, the formation of amorphous graphitic film, driven by continuous shearing and exfoliation of graphene sheets within the adsorbed NGQDs, contributes to the stability of superlubricity.
