In particular, the first\u2010order and buckling (bifurcation) behaviours are addressed and it is shown that they\n<jats:list>\n<jats:list-item><jats:p>exhibit several peculiarities, stemming essentially from the cross\u2010section rotational symmetry, and<\/jats:p><\/jats:list-item>\n<jats:list-item><jats:p>can be significantly influenced by distortion\u2010type deformation.<\/jats:p><\/jats:list-item>\n<jats:list-item><jats:p>The analytical and numerical results reported in this paper are obtained using generalized beam theory (GBT) and its computationally efficient specialization for RCPS recently developed by the authors [1].
