The samples considered were those with atomic number in the range 14\u201444 and the radioactive sources were\n                    <jats:sup>55<\/jats:sup>\n                    Fe,\n                    <jats:sup>244<\/jats:sup>\n                    Cm and\n                    <jats:sup>109<\/jats:sup>\n                    Cd. Efficiencies well above 1% can be achieved for the recessed source geometry and samples with atomic number above 20.
