To aid those teams looking to move to agile we should examine how others have done so and what practical value they found. We studied teams which adopted agile practices across a spectrum from taking on a whole methodology to a couple of practices at a time, and then committed to continuous assessment and improvement of their ways of working. Those teams favoured adapting agile-based, team-oriented practices suited to their particular needs over technical practices and defined methodologies.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1007\/978-3-030-19034-7_1","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,5,10]],"date-time":"2019-05-10T23:08:11Z","timestamp":1557529691000},"page":"3-18","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1007\/springer_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":17,"title":["Agile Practices in Practice: Towards a Theory of Agile Adoption and Process Evolution"],"prefix":"10.1007","author":[{"given":"Brendan","family":"Julian","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"James","family":"Noble","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Craig","family":"Anslow","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"297","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2019,4,27]]},"reference":[{"issue":"4","key":"1_CR1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","first-page":"487","DOI":"10.1007\/s10664-010-9152-6","volume":"16","author":"S Adolph","year":"2011","unstructured":"Adolph, S., Hall, W., Kruchten, P.: Using grounded theory to study the experience of software development.
