These emerging use cases often require queries containing mathematical formulas such as euclidean distances or unit conversions. Currently, the latest SPARQL standard (version 1.1) only embeds basic math operators. Thus, to address this shortcoming, some popular SPARQL evaluators provide built-in\u00a0tools to cover specific needs; however, such tools are not standard yet. To offer users a more generic solution, we propose and share MINDS, a translator of mathematical expressions into SPARQL-compliant bindings which can be understood by any evaluator. MINDS thereby facilitates the query design whenever mathematical computations are needed in a SPARQL query.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1007\/978-3-030-59833-4_7","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2020,10,26]],"date-time":"2020-10-26T12:03:11Z","timestamp":1603713791000},"page":"104-117","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1007\/springer_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["MINDS: A Translator to Embed Mathematical Expressions Inside SPARQL Queries"],"prefix":"10.1007","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-3392-3162","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Damien","family":"Graux","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-3441-1372","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Gezim","family":"Sejdiu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9948-6458","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Claus","family":"Stadler","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-6842-7575","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Giulio","family":"Napolitano","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9108-4278","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jens","family":"Lehmann","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"297","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2020,10,27]]},"reference":[{"key":"7_CR1","unstructured":"Athanasiou, S., Giannopoulos, G., Graux, D., Karagiannakis, N., Lehmann, J., Ngomo, A.C.N., Patroumpas, K., Sherif, M.A., Skoutas, D.: Big POI data integration with linked data technologies.
