Initially we tested on a PC on Google Chrome and excluded video players that contained what we called “show-stoppers”: serious accessibility failures. The remaining video players were then tested with people with vision impairments reliant on various screen readers. Any video players that contained show-stoppers were excluded from any additional testing. Thirdly, we tested on two different mobile devices, again excluding video players that contained show-stoppers. Finally, we tested with an iPad and a Bluetooth keyboard. At the end of the testing only two players remained: AblePlayer and OzPlayer.
[[2018,6,25
["The Inaccessibility of Video Players
[[2018,6,26
9_CR1
Video Marketing: The future of content marketing. https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbesagencycouncil/2017/02/03/video-marketing-the-future-of-content-marketing/#5417a4be6b53
9_CR2
Cisco Visual Networking Index: Forecast and methodology, 2016–2021. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/solutions/collateral/service-provider/visual-networking-index-vni/complete-white-paper-c11-481360.html
9_CR3
Global Video Index, Q2 (2016). http://go.ooyala.com/rs/447-EQK-225/images/Ooyala-Global-Video-Index-Q2-2016.pdf
9_CR4
Million people are watching Facebook videos everyday. http://tubularinsights.com/500-million-watch-facebook-video/
9_CR5
Facebook hits 100M hours of video watched a day, 1B users on groups, 80M on Fb lite. https://techcrunch.com/2016/01/27/facebook-grows/
9_CR6
People now watch 1 billion hours of YouTube per day. https://techcrunch.com/2017/02/28/people-now-watch-1-billion-hours-of-youtube-per-day/
9_CR7
Nearly 1 in 5 people have a disability. https://www.census.gov/newsroom/releases/archives/miscellaneous/cb12-134.html
85 percent of Facebook video is watched without sound. https://digiday.com/media/silent-world-facebook-video/
9_CR10
PLYmedia: Subtitles increase online video viewing by 40%. http://www.subply.com/en/news/NewsItem_SubPLY_Trial_Results.htm
9_CR11
8 Best practices to optimize e-commerce video landing pages for search. http://tubularinsights.com/8-practices-optimize-video-landing-pages-search/
9_CR12
Ofcom: Television access services. https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0016/42442/access.pdf
[[2018,11,16
["Lecture Notes in Computer Science","Computers Helping People with Special Needs
[[2023,12,13
[[2018
9783319942766","9783319942773
["0302-9743","1611-3349
[[2018
In the originally published version of the paper, the affiliation of the author was not mentioned.
