Logic"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2023,5]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title><jats:p>We show it is consistent that there is a Souslin tree <jats:italic>S<\/jats:italic> such that after forcing with <jats:italic>S<\/jats:italic>, <jats:italic>S<\/jats:italic> is Kurepa and for all clubs <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$C \\subset \\omega _1$$<\/jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\">\n                  <mml:mrow>\n                    <mml:mi>C<\/mml:mi>\n                    <mml:mo>\u2282<\/mml:mo>\n                    <mml:msub>\n                      <mml:mi>\u03c9<\/mml:mi>\n                      <mml:mn>1<\/mml:mn>\n                    <\/mml:msub>\n                  <\/mml:mrow>\n                <\/mml:math><\/jats:alternatives><\/jats:inline-formula>, <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$S\\upharpoonright C$$<\/jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\">\n                  <mml:mrow>\n                    <mml:mi>S<\/mml:mi>\n                    <mml:mo>\u21be<\/mml:mo>\n                    <mml:mi>C<\/mml:mi>\n                  <\/mml:mrow>\n                <\/mml:math><\/jats:alternatives><\/jats:inline-formula> is rigid. This answers the questions in Fuchs (Arch Math Logic 52(1\u20132):47\u201366, 2013). Moreover, we show it is consistent with <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$\\diamondsuit $$<\/jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\">\n                  <mml:mo>\u2662<\/mml:mo>\n                <\/mml:math><\/jats:alternatives><\/jats:inline-formula> that for every Souslin tree <jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic> there is a dense <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$X \\subseteq T$$<\/jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\">\n                  <mml:mrow>\n                    <mml:mi>X<\/mml:mi>\n                    <mml:mo>\u2286<\/mml:mo>\n                    <mml:mi>T<\/mml:mi>\n                  <\/mml:mrow>\n                <\/mml:math><\/jats:alternatives><\/jats:inline-formula> which does not contain a copy of <jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>. This is related to a question due to Baumgartner in Baumgartner (Ordered sets (Banff, Alta., 1981), volume 83 of NATO Adv. Study Inst. Ser. C: Math. Phys.
