From an axiomatic viewpoint apportionment methods ought to satisfy six basic principles: anonymity, balancedness, concordance, decency, exactness, and fairness. It is well-known that the first two principles are implied by the last four. In this note it is shown that the last four principles are logically independent of each other.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1007\/s10107-022-01835-2","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,6,9]],"date-time":"2022-06-09T16:16:37Z","timestamp":1654791397000},"page":"169-185","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1007\/springer_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":4,"title":["Note on axiomatic properties of apportionment methods for proportional representation systems"],"prefix":"10.1007","volume":"203","author":[{"given":"Antonio","family":"Palomares","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9166-1442","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Friedrich","family":"Pukelsheim","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Victoriano","family":"Ram\u00edrez","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"297","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,6,9]]},"reference":[{"key":"1835_CR1","first-page":"1","volume":"22","author":"ML Balinski","year":"1997","unstructured":"Balinski, M.L., Rachev, S.T.: Rounding proportions: methods of rounding.
