Univers."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2025,9]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title>\n                  <jats:p>\n                    We develop a simple model of the\n                    <jats:italic>underdetermination of theory by data<\/jats:italic>\n                    using \u201ccrazy dice\u201d \u2013 standardly shaped dice with non-standard labellings \u2013 and we use the model to illustrate a number of distinct ways that scientific data (the probability distributions of the dice) can underdetermine our theories of that data (claims about the shapes, labellings, number, and identity of the dice).
