European Union (EU) promised to increase circular economy policies, considering the concerns related to the efficient use of non-renewable resources and the struggle against climate change. Innovative technique\u2019s contribution to those goals is of primary importance. <\/jats:p>\n          <jats:p>This paper summarises the results of the CoolAsphalt project, aiming to study an innovative process to reuse RAP \u2013 reclaimed asphalt pavement \u2013 with a high incorporation proportion, up to 100%. High rates of RAP in new asphalt mixtures for pavements require a rejuvenating agent to recover the lost bitumen\u2019s volatile components. This study involved the addition of waste cooking oil (WCO) collected from restaurants, canteens and collecting points around municipal territories. Vegetable oil consumption is growing annually worldwide, resulting in a large amount of WCO that needs to be valorised.<\/jats:p>\n          <jats:p>The laboratory studies consisted of designing the asphalt concrete blends to apply in real-scale trial sections and assessing their mechanical and functional properties because resistance to ageing could be an issue for the lifecycle of these asphalt mixtures. An accelerated long-term ageing procedure simulated a five-year in-service period for Lisbon\u2019s climatic conditions.<\/jats:p>\n          <jats:p>The results show that the mechanical and surface properties of the hot (HMA) and warm mixtures (WMA) are suitable for low\/medium traffic pavements. During the blends\u2019 manufacturing in a conventional drum plant, some issues related to the RAP\u2019s water content and the mixing temperature arose.
