The primary and secondary outcomes were 30\u2010day mortality and 30\u2010day MI, respectively.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Results<\/jats:title><jats:p>Atrial fibrillation, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and dependent functional status were more prevalent in deceased patients. After multivariable analysis, age (adjusted OR 1.08, 95% Confidence Interval [1.01\u20131.15], <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20090.027) and RDW\u2010standard deviation (RDW\u2010SD) (1.08 [1.01\u20131.16], <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20090.032) remained independent predictors of mortality. Patients with MI had higher rates of diabetes, CKD, dependent functional status, ASA physical status IV, and insulin medication. After multivariable analysis, dependent functional status (4.8 [1.6\u201315.0], <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20090.007), insulin medication (4.4 [1.5\u201312.6], <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20090.007) and RDW\u2010SD (1.10 [1.02\u20131.19], <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20090.020) were independent predictors of MI.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Conclusion<\/jats:title><jats:p>RDW\u2010SD independently predicted postoperative MI and mortality, and may provide valuable information for prevention and early management of adverse
