A single session of HWI (40\u00a0\u00b0C for 30\u00a0min with the water level at the sternum) and END (cycling 30\u00a0min at 60\u201370% of max heart rate [HR]) were carried out in randomised order, separated by at least 72\u00a0h. Core body temperature (Tc) and HR were monitored throughout each session. Blood pressure and ventricular parameters, including LV global longitudinal strain (LV GLS) and tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE), were assessed before and after each session.<\/jats:p>\n                  <\/jats:sec>\n                  <jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>Results<\/jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>\n                      A significant increase in Tc was greater after HWI (\u03940.91\u2009\u00b1\u20090.32\u00a0\u00b0C) than END (\u03940.72\u2009\u00b1\u20090.29\u00a0\u00b0C; interaction:\n                      <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\n                      \u2009=\u20090.004). Similarly, HR increased more after HWI than END (\u039433\u2009\u00b1\u200914 vs. \u039425\u2009\u00b1\u200912\u00a0bpm;\n                      <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\n                      \u2009=\u20090.042) and HWI induced greater reductions in post-intervention SBP (\u0394-5.7\u2009\u00b1\u200910.0 vs. \u03940.6\u2009\u00b1\u20096.6 mmHg;\n                      <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\n                      \u2009=\u20090.019) and DBP (\u0394-9.2\u2009\u00b1\u20099.2 vs. \u0394-1.5\u2009\u00b1\u20095.1 mmHg;\n                      <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\n                      \u2009=\u20090.001). There was a greater increase in LV GLS following HWI (\u0394-2.5\u2009\u00b1\u20092.3%) compared to END (\u0394-0.76\u2009\u00b1\u20092.09%;\n                      <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\n                      \u2009=\u20090.008) and a significant increase in TAPSE after HWI (\u03943.95\u2009\u00b1\u20094.32\u00a0mm;\n                      <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\n                      \u2009&lt;\u20090.001).\n                    <\/jats:p>\n                  <\/jats:sec>\n                  <jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>Conclusion<\/jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>We observed greater increases in Tc, HR, and post-exercise LV and RV function following a HWI intervention compared to acute END.
