The European Portuguese version of the HD-DT-C showed good test\u2013retest reliability (<jats:italic>ICC<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20090.991 for the barometer and <jats:italic>\u03ba<\/jats:italic>\u2009\u2265\u20090.80 in 77% of the checklist items), high diagnostic accuracy (<jats:italic>AUC<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20090.956), and strong convergent validity (all <jats:italic>r<\/jats:italic>\u2009\u2265\u20090.50) with reference measures that assess quality of life, caregiver burden, and symptoms of anxiety and depression. Cutoff scores with good clinical utility (<jats:italic>CUI<\/jats:italic>\u2009+\u2009\u2009\u2265\u20090.70) were recommended for screening distress in research (\u2265\u20096) and clinical practice (\u2265\u20095).<\/jats:p>\n              <\/jats:sec><jats:sec>\n                <jats:title>Conclusion<\/jats:title>\n                <jats:p>The HD-DT-C is a brief, reliable, valid, and acceptable measure for identifying self-reported psychological distress and its sources among people caring for a family member or friend on hemodialysis.
