Many young people have faced substantial difficulties adjusting to academic life during this period. However, self-control may play a critical role in youth development and positively influence academic adaptation. This study aims to analyze the role of loneliness, self-control, and experiences related to the COVID-19 pandemic in young adults\u2019 academic adaptation to university. The sample consisted of 407 young adults aged 18 to 25. A structural equation model was employed to test the proposed model. Findings revealed a negative association between loneliness and academic adaptation, and a positive association between university-related experiences during lockdown and academic adaptation. Additionally, relationships with peers were positively related to the personal domains of adaptation. Conversely, deficits in self-control\u2014particularly those linked to egocentricity and an explosive temperament\u2014were negatively associated with academic and personal adaptation.
