The specimen, approximately 250\u00a0cm in total length, was incidentally captured with rod and reel by recreational fishers at a depth of 900\u00a0m off San Crist\u00f3bal, Gran Canaria, and released after photographic and video documentation. This record constitutes a notable expansion of the species\u2019 known distribution range in the Central\u2013Eastern Atlantic.
