Hydrolysis of the separated sugar nucleotide fraction yielded D\u2010galactose\u20104\u2010<jats:sup>3<\/jats:sup>H but no <jats:sup>3<\/jats:sup>H\u2010labelled D\u2010glucose. This indicates the presence of TDP\u20104\u2010keto\u2010D\u2010glucose as an intermediate in the enzymatic conversion of TDP\u2010D\u2010glucose to TDP\u2010L\u2010rhamnose.
