Basal [Ca<jats:sup>2+<\/jats:sup>]<jats:sub>i<\/jats:sub> with the Ca<jats:sup>2+<\/jats:sup>\u2010ionophore ionomycin revealed apparent thresholds for shape\u2010change, 5\u2010HT release and aggregation of approx. 0.5\u03bcM, 0.8\u03bcM and 2 \u03bcM. Thrombin raised [Ca<jats:sup>2+<\/jats:sup>]<jats:sub>i<\/jats:sub> to 3 \u03bcM fast enough for the Ca<jats:sup>2+<\/jats:sup> to have triggered the cell activation.
