The amino acid sequence of the smallest subunit was determined by complete solid\u2010phase Edman degradation and was confirmed by sequencing the N\u2010terminal part and the C\u2010terminal tryptic fragment by liquid\u2010phase Edman degradation. The protein consists of 56 amino acid residues; the <jats:italic>M<\/jats:italic>\n<jats:sub>r<\/jats:sub> was calculated to be 6363.
