Upon exposure to DMSO, HL\u201060 cells undergo differentiation and acquire a 15\u2010lipoxygenase activity while undifferentiated cells challenged with either arachidonic acid or 15\u2010HPETE did not enzymatically transform these precursors. Products of the arachidonic acid 15\u2010lipoxygenase pathway were identified by HPLC. UV\u2010absorption and gas chromatography\u2010mass spectrometry. Results indicate that upon differentiation HL\u201060 cells express a 15\u2010lipoxygenase activity as well as the ability to transform 15\u2010HPETE to 8,15\u2010DHETEs and 14,15\u2010DHETE.
