Three anti\u2010\u03b2\u2010tubulin monoclonal antibodies, DM 1B, DM3B3 and KMX\u20101 all reacted with the \u03b2<jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub>\u2010tubulin isotypes expressed in both myxamoebae and plasmodia. However, these antibodies showed a spectrum of reduced reactivity with the plasmodial \u03b2<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>\u2010tubulin isotype \u2010 the competence of recognition of this isotype was graded DM1B &gt; KMX\u20101 &gt; DM3B3. The anti\u2010\u03b1\u2010tubulin monoclonal antibody, YOL <jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" xlink:href=\"graphic\/feb20014579385812448-math-si1.gif\" xlink:title=\"urn:x-wiley:00145793:media:feb20014579385812448:feb20014579385812448-math-si1\"\/> defined the full complement of <jats:italic>Physarum<\/jats:italic> \u03b1\u2010tubulin isotypes, whilst the anti\u2010\u03b1\u2010tubulin monoclonal antibody, KMP\u20101 showed a remarkably high degree of isotype specificity. KMP\u20101 recognises all of the myxamoebal \u03b1<jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub>\u2010tubulin isotypes but only recognises 3 out of the 4 \u03b1<jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub>\u2010tubulin isotypes expressed in the plasmodium (which normally focus in the same 2D gel spot). KMP\u20101 does not recognise the plasmodial specific \u03b1<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>\u2010tubulin isotype.
