In addition to the previously observed \u03b1\u2010 and \u03b5\u2010subspecies, mesangial cells also express the \u03b4\u2010 and \u03b6\u2010isoenzymes of PKC. On exposure to phorbol 12,13\u2010dibutyrate (PDB) a complete depletion of PKC\u2010\u03b4 is observed within 8 h. Removal of PDB results in a recovery of PKC\u2010\u03b4.
