Upon incubation with the pure isomers of 2\u2010methylpentadecanoyl\u2010CoA, both enzymes acted only on the <jats:italic>S<\/jats:italic>\u2010isomer. The <jats:italic>R<\/jats:italic>\u2010isomer inhibited trihydroxycoprostanoyl\u2010CoA oxidase but did not affect pristanoyl\u2010CoA oxidase. The activity of both enzymes was suppressed by 3\u2010methylheptadecanoyl\u2010CoA. Valproyl\u2010CoA and 2\u2010ethylhexanoyl\u2010CoA, however, did not influence the oxidases. Although only one isomer of 25<jats:italic>R<\/jats:italic>,<jats:italic>S<\/jats:italic>\u2010trihydroxycoprostanoyl\u2010CoA was desaturated by trihydroxycoprostanoyl\u2010CoA oxidase, isolated peroxisomes were able to act on both isomers, suggesting the presence of a racemase in these organelles.
