In this study, the eclampsia incidence and calcium intake for three countries, Guatemala (low eclampsia incidence, high calcium intake); Cali, Colombia (high eclampsia incidence, low calcium intake); and the USA (low eclampsia incidence, high calcium intake) have been compared. Crude rates for eclampsia incidence were adjusted to control the effects of well\u2010documented predisposing factors: age, parity, and prenatal care. Results of the study support an association between calcium intake and development of
