In this investigation, we demonstrate that PTN plays a negative role in adipogensis and that glycogen synthase kinase 3\u03b2 (GSK\u20103\u03b2) and \u03b2\u2010catenin are involved in the regulation of PTN\u2010mediated preadipocyte differentiation. Knocking down the expression of PTN using siRNA resulted in an increase in phospho\u2010GSK\u20103\u03b2 expression, and the accumulation of nuclear \u03b2\u2010catenin, which are critical downstream signaling proteins for both the PTN and Wnt signaling pathways.
