We performed corneal micropocket assays in gelatinase A\u2010deficient mice and their age\u2010matched wild\u2010type littermates. The corneal neovascular area in gelatinase A\u2010deficient mice (0.15\u00b10.14 mm<jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>) was significantly less than that of wild\u2010type littermates (0.53\u00b10.35 mm<jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>; <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic>&lt;0.01). Similarly, aortic ring assays showed significant reduction of endothelial outgrowth in gelatinase A\u2010deficient mice (0.26\u00b10.14 mm<jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>) as compared to wild\u2010type littermates (0.44\u00b10.06 mm<jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>; <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic>&lt;0.05).
