Here we investigated cingulin interaction with actin, using His\u2010tagged, full\u2010length <jats:italic>Xenopus laevis<\/jats:italic> cingulin expressed in insect cells, and glutathione <jats:italic>S<\/jats:italic>\u2010transferase (GST) fusion proteins of fragments of cingulin expressed in bacteria. Purified full\u2010length cingulin co\u2010pelleted with F\u2010actin after high speed centrifugation, and promoted the sedimentation of F\u2010actin under low speed centrifugation, suggesting that cingulin is an actin\u2010cross\u2010linking protein.
