A decrease in expression of the \u03b11\u2010isoform protein was observed in all sampled cancer tissues compared with the normal mucosae. The level of ouabain (5 \u03bcM)\u2010sensitive Na<jats:sup>+<\/jats:sup>,K<jats:sup>+<\/jats:sup>\u2010ATPase activity in carcinomas was 81\u00b15% that of in the normal mucosae. The mRNA expression of \u03b12\u2010 and \u03b14\u2010isoforms was decreased in almost all the carcinoma samples. Interestingly, the expression level of the \u03b13\u2010isoform protein in the cancer tissue was higher than that of the normal mucosa.
