Scatchard analysis indicated 74000 \u00b1 11000 high\u2010affinity binding sites for complex per human hepatocyte, with a<jats:italic>K<\/jats:italic>\n<jats:sub>4<\/jats:sub> of 0.87 \u00b1 0.09 mM. Almost identical results were achieved with the human hepatoma cell line Hep G2. Binding of [<jats:sup>123<\/jats:sup>I]t\u2010PA\u2010PAI\u20101 complex was unaffected by high concentrations of unlabelled t\u2010PA, PAI\u20101, u\u2010PA or u\u2010PA\u2010PAI\u20101 complex; only t\u2010PA\u2010PAI\u20101 complex competed for binding. Hepatocyte\u2010bound t\u2010PA\u2010PAI\u20101 was internalized and degraded at 37\u00b0C.
