{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2024,1,24]],"date-time":"2024-01-24T08:38:14Z","timestamp":1706085494522},"reference-count":0,"publisher":"Cambridge University Press (CUP)","issue":"S1","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2020,4,17]],"date-time":"2020-04-17T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1587081600000},"content-version":"unspecified","delay-in-days":3759,"URL":"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/terms"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Eur. psychiatr."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2010]]},"abstract":"<jats:sec id=\"S0924933800182537_abst0008\" sec-type=\"other\"><jats:title>Objectives<\/jats:title><jats:p>This study emphasised the nurses\u2019 assistance practices and conceptions in order to understand how they perceive and live with all the complexity that underlies this phenomenon.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S0924933800182537_abst0091\" sec-type=\"methods\"><jats:title>Methods<\/jats:title><jats:p>With the articulation of qualitative methods (interview) and quantitative (structured questionnaire), the study focused on a group of 78 nurses aged between 22 and 60 years (average: 40.15) being 61% women and experience either in the hospital or in primary health care.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S0924933800182537_abst0191\" sec-type=\"results\"><jats:title>Results<\/jats:title><jats:p>We found that violence against women was perceived as a complex phenomenon and present, with strong socio-cultural, marked by abuse of power and disregard for human rights. We note also that nurses generally experience negative feelings associated with the aggressor, but also the victim. On his practice emphasizes the desire to help and, paradoxically, a strong sense of powerlessness.
