This study aimed to determine the occurrence of <jats:italic>burnout<\/jats:italic> in NSR and determine whether there is any relationship between the different domains of <jats:italic>burnout<\/jats:italic> and sociodemographic aspects, and psychosocial work.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S0924933800122291_abst0002\" sec-type=\"methods\"><jats:title>Methods<\/jats:title><jats:p>We conducted a cross-sectional, quantitative and analytical, which was attended by 117 NSR carrying out functions in various health institutions Portuguese's, aged between 27 and 57 years. To measure the variables used the following instruments: Scale MBI-GS, General Labor Satisfaction Scale, Scale My Health Locus of Control Scale and Levenson's Global Self-Esteem Scale for adults.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S0924933800122291_abst0003\" sec-type=\"results\"><jats:title>Results<\/jats:title><jats:p>With regard to levels of <jats:italic>burnout<\/jats:italic> in NSR conclude that men have higher rates in the dimensions \u201cphysical and emotional exhaustion\u201d and \u201ccynicism\u201d compared to women with an average ranking of 11,89 <jats:italic>vs<\/jats:italic> 11,57 and 9,56 <jats:italic>vs<\/jats:italic> 9,48, respectively; the dimension \u201cprofessional effectiveness\u201d are women who are more prone to <jats:italic>burnout<\/jats:italic>, with an average ranking of 31,20 <jats:italic>vs<\/jats:italic> 30,11.
