Res."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1975,10]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>SUMMARY<\/jats:title><jats:p>Linkage data for the following markers on chromosome 17 of the house mouse were obtained: centromere (marked by translocation<jats:italic>R67<\/jats:italic>),<jats:italic>Brachyury<\/jats:italic>(<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>),<jats:italic>tufted<\/jats:italic>(<jats:italic>tf<\/jats:italic>),<jats:italic>H-2<\/jats:italic>, and<jats:italic>thin fur<\/jats:italic>(<jats:italic>thf<\/jats:italic>). The markers were found to be arranged in that order in the genetic map and the combined genetic distances between individual markers were found to be as follows:<jats:italic>Rb7<\/jats:italic>\u2026<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>, 4\u00b75 cM;<jats:italic>T\u2026tf<\/jats:italic>, 5\u00b78 cM;<jats:italic>tf<\/jats:italic>\u2026<jats:italic>H-2<\/jats:italic>, 5\u00b70 cM;<jats:italic>H-2<\/jats:italic>\u2026<jats:italic>thf<\/jats:italic>, 15\u00b71 cM. The localization of the<jats:italic>thf<\/jats:italic>locus on the non-centromeric side of the<jats:italic>H-2<\/jats:italic>complex provides an important marker for this arm of chromosome 17. The map distances in the centromeric portion of chromosome 17 changed drastically in the presence of various<jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic>factors. These factors strongly reduce the recombination frequency in the<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>\u2026<jats:italic>tf<\/jats:italic>and<jats:italic>tf<\/jats:italic>\u2026<jats:italic>H-2<\/jats:italic>intervals and this crossing-over suppression is most likely responsible for the linkage disequilibrium between<jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic>and<jats:italic>H-2<\/jats:italic>reported earlier.
