Res."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1977,8]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>SUMMARY<\/jats:title><jats:p>The genetic properties of some new mutant<jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic>-haplotypes derived from the naturally occurring haplotype<jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>6<\/jats:sup>have been investigated. Several mutant haplotypes gave taillessness with brachyury,<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>, were viable when homozygous, and when in compound with<jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>6<\/jats:sup>, and all these expressed<jats:italic>tf<\/jats:italic>and appeared to have arisen by meiotic crossing-over between<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>and<jats:italic>tf<\/jats:italic>in the region of crossover-suppression of<jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>6<\/jats:sup>. The haplotype<jats:italic>t<jats:sup>h17<\/jats:sup><\/jats:italic>arose by crossing-over in a stock of<jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>6<\/jats:sup>carrying the translocation T(1; 17) 190Ca, in which the translocation break in chromosome 17 is within the crossover-suppressing region; hence<jats:italic>t<jats:sup>h17<\/jats:sup><\/jats:italic>could not be separated from T190. It was of the complementary crossover type in that it did not interact with<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>, and was lethal in compound with<jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>6<\/jats:sup>; its male segregation ratio was normal with heterogeneity. A further haplotype,<jats:italic>t<jats:sup>h20<\/jats:sup><\/jats:italic>, expressed<jats:italic>tf<\/jats:italic>, gave taillessness with<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>, and was lethal when homozygous and in compound with<jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>6<\/jats:sup>. The expression of<jats:italic>tf<\/jats:italic>was attributed to a deletion, which also covered the loci of the nearby lethals knobbly,<jats:italic>Kb<\/jats:italic>, and<jats:italic>t<jats:sup>w5<\/jats:sup><\/jats:italic>.<jats:italic>t<jats:sup>h20<\/jats:sup><\/jats:italic>showed weak complementation of<jats:italic>t<jats:sup>w5<\/jats:sup><\/jats:italic>.
