Hyg."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1983,10]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>SUMMARY<\/jats:title><jats:p>Co-cultivation of<jats:italic>Legionella pneumophila<\/jats:italic>serogroup I and<jats:italic>Acanthamoeba palestinensis in<\/jats:italic>Neff's medium at 35 \u00b0C resulted in the intracellular multiplication of the bacteria as demonstrated by electron microscopy and immunofluorescence. In the closed experimental system used, the number of legionellae rose from 10<jats:sup>7<\/jats:sup>colony forming units (c. f. u.)\/ml initially to a maximum of 10<jats:sup>10<\/jats:sup>c. f. u. \/ml on day 5.
