Firstly, a kinematic model of the serial-parallel robot is constructed based on the closed-loop vector method. Secondly, a kinematic error model is established by combining geometric error analysis with the vector differential method. Then, with the effective separation of compensable and non-compensable error sources, an identification model of kinematic parameters is constructed. Finally, an improved pivot element weighted iterative algorithm is used to identify the geometric error parameters. Through actual pose measurement, MATLAB is used to simulate the calibration process. The simulation and experimental results show that after kinematic calibration, compared with the traditional least squares method, the improved identification algorithm can significantly reduce the end-effector pose error of the serial-parallel robot, thus effectively improving the motion accuracy of the end-effector.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1017\/s0263574725102713","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,10,17]],"date-time":"2025-10-17T05:13:38Z","timestamp":1760678018000},"page":"3782-3800","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Kinematic calibration and accuracy study of a 5-degrees-of-freedom hybrid polishing robot"],"prefix":"10.1017","volume":"43","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-2716-4991","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Bo","family":"Sun","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"id":[{"id":"https:\/\/ror.org\/01xt2dr21","id-type":"ROR","asserted-by":"publisher"}],"name":"China University of Mining and Technology"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Mingyang","family":"Qin","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"id":[{"id":"https:\/\/ror.org\/01xt2dr21","id-type":"ROR","asserted-by":"publisher"}],"name":"China University of Mining and Technology"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Yaolin","family":"Jiang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"id":[{"id":"https:\/\/ror.org\/01xt2dr21","id-type":"ROR","asserted-by":"publisher"}],"name":"China University of Mining and Technology"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-9211-1044","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Gang","family":"Cheng","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"id":[{"id":"https:\/\/ror.org\/01xt2dr21","id-type":"ROR","asserted-by":"publisher"}],"name":"China University of Mining and Technology"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"56","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2025,10,17]]},"reference":[{"key":"S0263574725102713_ref9","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1115\/1.4049192"},{"key":"S0263574725102713_ref16","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1017\/S0263574724002054"},{"key":"S0263574725102713_ref17","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1017\/S0263574724001607"},{"key":"S0263574725102713_ref25","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1177\/1687814016667908"},{"key":"S0263574725102713_ref26","first-page":"381","article-title":"A pivot element weighting iterative method for solving ill-conditioned linear equations","volume":"12","author":"Tang","year":"2012","journal-title":"Science Technology and Engineering"},{"key":"S0263574725102713_ref4","first-page":"1","article-title":"Design and analysis of a novel 12-DOF self-balancing lower extremity exoskeleton for walking assistance","volume":"167","author":"Liu","year":"2021","journal-title":"Mech.
